Audio routing

Send the right audio to your broadcaster and avoid feedback.

For DJs

Check the audio path#

  1. Choose the music and microphone sources you need.
  2. Select the input or mixer in your broadcaster.
  3. Route those sources to that input using your desktop audio tools.
  4. Check the result on the test station using headphones or another device.

Keep station playback and desktop notifications out of the broadcast audio.

PipeWire and PulseAudio#

Use your desktop mixer to select the broadcaster’s recording input. Choose the device or monitor that carries your audio. PipeWire’s pw-link can also list and connect ports; see its command reference below.

Virtual sink example#

This creates a PulseAudio-compatible output. Route your music application into it, then select its monitor in the broadcaster. Use this only if you need a virtual sink.

pactl load-module module-null-sink sink_name=tilderadio_mix sink_properties=device.description=TildeRadio_Mix
pavucontrol

In your mixer, send the music application to TildeRadio_Mix and select Monitor of TildeRadio_Mix in the broadcaster. Mixing a microphone needs an additional route. Keep the returned module ID so you can unload it later.
